Most gymnastics fans know that the American Cup (also know at the Scam Cup) is basically a worthless international AA competition that the Americans always win. Based upon the fact that there will be no Russians, Chinese, or anybody who could realistically challenge Jordyn Wieber (other than  perhaps Aly Raisman or Larisa Iordache) most people are not too terribly excited for the Scam Cup this year. In fact, I think it is safe to say that Aly, Jordyn, and Larisa will dominate this competition

But, for some strange reason reason, I am really looking forward to the American Cup. So, here I give you 8 reasons why you should too!

1. It’s like the kick off party to the elite season! Honestly, I love NCAA gymnastics, but it can only sustain me for so long.

2. Upgrades! I am particularly excited to see some of Aly’s upgrades. The Amanar? The piked double arabian punch front? The double arabian punch front layout? I want to see it all!

3. It gives us a wonderful chance to make fun of Tim, Elfi, and Al

4. Any time Danell Leyva is on my screen I am happy

5. Danell Leyva’s coach/ step dad’s reactions are always so great! (and gif worthy, too!)

6.Georgia Simpson! I luvs her. I really wish that she had the difficulty to match her elegant style. 

7. Larisa Iordache- I luvs her too. This baby Romanian attacks beam. 4 realz.

8. Rebecca Tunney- A pretty solid AA competitor with a stylin’ set of bangs. And an adorable accent.
